Set the oven at 425 degrees and leave it for 15 minutes for preheating.
    Preheat The Oven
  • Mix The Dry Ingredients:
Take a large mixing bowl, keep the strainer on top, and add the dry ingredients. Start with  2 cups of self-rising flour, salt as per taste, and ¼ teaspoon of baking soda into it. Strain and mix well.

Use a hand whisk or spoon and give the dry ingredients a good mix.
     Mix The Dry Ingredients
  • Add The Butter And Buttermilk:
In a bowl take ¼ cup of unsalted butter, and beat it until smooth. Add this smooth butter to the dry ingredients, and give it a good mix.

Then, pour ¾ cup of buttermilk and mix at high speed with a hand whisk to get a moist dough. Then use your hand to knead the dough until it has a smooth surface; it will take you 12-15 strokes to become smooth.
    Add The Butter And Buttermilk
  • Cut The Biscuits:
Spread the smooth dough on a clean surface, and roll it ½ inch thick. Now, cut them with any shape biscuit cutter, round, square, or any shape you want. If you don’t have a biscuit cutter, you can use glass or something round to make them round in shape.
    Cut The Biscuits
  • Bake:
Line a biscuit baking tray with baking sheet, and brush it with melted butter. Place the biscuit pieces in the baking pan keeping enough space. So get enough space to spread while baking.

Next, place the baking tray in the oven keeping the oven at the same heat (425 degrees), and bake for 15 minutes. When the biscuits are ready, you will see the biscuits have turned a little golden brown. Don’t overbake them, 15 minutes is enough, but if you love them to be more crunchy, bake for another 5 minutes.
    Bake
  • Serve:
Once the biscuits are ready, take out and place them on top of a wire cooling rack or let them chill for a few minutes in the tray. But if you want, you can serve them hot as well. And for better presentation,  you can garnish them by putting some butter on top. You can pair it up with some hot chocolate drink for a delicious taste.

Tips and Tricks

  • Make sure you use self-rising flour; if you use all-purpose flour, the biscuits won’t be fluffy like bob Evans biscuits.
  • You must use buttermilk to make the dough. Or, if you don’t have it, take fat-free milk, add a squeeze of lemon juice, and then use it.
  • To enjoy tender and flaky biscuits soft inside, avoid over-kneading. Overkneading will make the dough too moist.
  • Must beat the butter until smooth and then add; first, I used to think melted butter will do the same, but no, it makes a big difference.
  • Don’t overbake the biscuits; they will lose the fluffy texture and taste a little burnt.

How To Store Bob Evans Biscuit

It’s also natural to make a large batch of these delicious treats and store some for a later snack time. But as they are chemical free how can you keep them in good condition for a long time?

As they are not made for long-term storage, we can’t store them for a long time, but still, we can store them for a short time. At room temperature, they will stay fresh for 1-2 days. But you have to store them in an airtight container and keep it in a safe place for that. I mean avoid keeping it in humidity places like a kitchen countertop.

However, if you need to keep them for a few more days, then keep the container in the refrigerator.
