For this Bojangles pinto beans recipe, I follow the exact measurements used in the video. You can also increase or decrease the amount of the ingredients. Make sure the ingredients are adjusted according to the number of beans. Always season the pinto beans to taste.

  • 10 cups of soaked pinto beans

  • 2 smoked turkey pieces 

  • 13 cups of water

  • ½ yellow Onion

  • 2 tbsp oil

  • 2 tbsp salt

  • 2 tbsp cumin

  • 6 garlic cloves

  • 1 tsp pepper

  • 1 tbsp paprika

  • 1 tsp sugar

  • Rinse the beans: Take out those Beans from the pot that split in half. You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to. Rinse the beans
  • Wash the pinto beans: Before boiling the beans, wash them with running water from the tap.

  • Soak the pinto beans: For cooking the pinto beans, you need to soak the beans for 24 hours. The soaking process of these beans is very important because you want to degas your beans, and you want to avoid a stomach ache.

  •  Serve the pinto bean: After 3 hours of cooking, let the beans rest for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, take a serving plate and serve the pinto beans with cornbread, rice and noodles. You can sprinkle some sugar on top of the bean.
