Honey Garlic Chicken Thigh Recipe

Honey garlic chicken dishes are my all-time favorite. Recently I have shared the honey garlic chicken wings recipe, today I am going to share another sticky chicken recipe, the honey garlic chicken thigh recipe with you.

Honey garlic chicken thigh is an easy to fancy up your moist chicken thighs. Garlic tanginess and the sweetness of honey make ordinary chicken thighs juicy and flavourful. Once you put them in your mouth, you will just burst with flavor. Plus it’s a healthy addition to your diet as it’s protein enriched and low in calories.

In my previous recipe, I tossed the crispy-fried chicken wings in savory honey garlic sauce, but today it will be a little different. I won’t fry the chicken pieces, will oven-bake the chicken pieces dipped in perfectly balanced honey garlic sauce. It will take lower effort and minimum time to get ready to serve.

Let’s scroll down and make the juicy honey garlic chicken thigh in just a few minutes.

How to make Honey Garlic Chicken Thigh

  • Ready the Chicken: Take your chicken thighs ( boneless or skinless whatever you want), rinse them well, pat dry with a microfiber towel, and place them in a large dry mixing bowl. Now let’s add the marination one by one. Start by adding three tablespoons of olive oil, three tablespoons of honey, two tablespoons of soy sauce, and two tablespoons of brown sugar.
    Ready the Chicken
  • Add Spices: Next, add freshly crushed 4 garlic cloves, two teaspoons of minced or ginger paste, three teaspoons of chili paste or chili sauce, one teaspoon of freshly grounded cinnamon, and two tablespoons of cornstarch. Finish by adding three tablespoons of freshly chopped thyme and one medium minced onion.
    Add Spices
  • Add Seasonings: Now mix all the ingredients with the chicken thighs and ensure the chicken is finely coated with the marination. And lastly, add the seasonings salt, and pepper as per taste and give it a final mix with your hand or rubber spatula. Avoid overmixing after adding the seasoning.
    Add Seasonings
  • Ready To Bake: Once mixing is done, leave the chicken covered with wrapping paper for a minimum of 30 minutes or up to two hours in the refrigerator. When time is up, take a baking tray, and line it with foil paper. Foil paper will keep the sauce and chicken in place and will make the chicken easy to remove from the baking tray. It will also ensure the baking tray is free of dirt. Then pour the marinated chicken with sauce into the tray and finely spread it.
    Ready To Bake
  • Bake: Let’s put the chicken in the oven for baking. Ite better to cook the chicken in the preheated oven, so try to put the oven for preheating before you put the chicken to bake. I always bake at a higher temperature, so I set the heat at 400 degrees and let the oven preheat for 15 minutes. Then place the baking tray filled with chicken inside, shut it and let it bake at the same heat for a minimum of 25 minutes. If you want you can bake at lower temperatures as well. In that case, it will take longer to cook thoroughly.
    Bake
  • Serve: Honey garlic chicken thigh can burst your mouth with flavor alone, still, you can serve it with other dishes. I love to pair it up with steamed rice, mashed potatoes, or paratha. But when I have lower time in hand, just a handful of green beans, snap peas, carrots, or summer squash would be my favorite addition. I am giving you some great options as well if you are on a diet. So transfer the baked chicken thighs to a serving plate pour the sauce above the chicken, and serve garnishing with a few fresh thyme.

How To Store Honey Garlic Chicken Thighs

After making it in a large batch still i didn’t get the chance to store some honey garlic chicken thighs. And frankly saying I don’t even want. This chicken dish is not something good to store. But still storing option is available to save you up. You can use any Tupperware, glass container, or plastic container to store it. Just transfer the chicken pieces with sauce into the container and seal them tightly. Keep the container in the refrigerator and store it for up to three days, not more than that. Whenever you want to serve it just take it out, transfer it to an oven-proof bowl and reheat it in the oven for a few minutes.

Tips and Tricks

  • If you want the sauce to become a  little more sweeter without adding extra honey, paprika can do the job for you. Not only paprika will increase sweetness but will also enhance the color of the dish.
  • If you don’t have honey at home, use maple syrup instead. Obviously maple syrup won’t give you the same flavor, but that will also taste great.
  • When you are unlike me in case of heat, you can lower or totally avoid the chili sauce. Or instead, use sriracha if available or some crushed red pepper.
  • I always bake at high heat because, in high heat, chicken becomes crisper and cooked thoroughly faster. After all who can wait longer to enjoy such a delicious meal?
  • Wait for a few minutes before serving the chicken. This will ensure you get juicier chicken coated in sticky honey garlic sauce. And add roasted sesame seeds for a better look and taste.
