Ingredients

  • Dried split peas- 2 cups

  • Ham bone-1 pound

  • Thinly minced onion- 4 tbsp

  • Kosher salt- 1 tbsp

  • Red potatoes (cubes)- 1 cup

  • Diced carrot- 3 to 4

  • Chopped celery- 3 stalks

  • Set all components nearby: Firstly, arrange all the components nearby. 2 cups of green split peas, butter, previously made chicken broth, and left ham bone cubes with various colored vegetables and fresh herbs ( oregano, black pepper, thyme, parsley, celery) all should be ready before jumping to cook.

  •  Melt the butter: Place a giant saucepan on high medium heat. Add 2 tsp of butter to the pan. Stir and melt the butter fully.

  • Add onion and garlic with chopped celery: Add thinly minced onion- 4 tbsp, 2 tsp of garlic clove ground to the melted butter. Saute them continuously. 2 minutes later, put ½ cup of chopped celery. Stir them until the onion gets translucent. It takes 5 to 8 minutes.

  • Add split peas with additional veggies: This time, you need to add 2 cups of dried split peas, ½ cup of clean diced carrot, and ½ cup of cubed red potatoes to the onion mixture. Saute together finely in around 2 minutes.

  • Shift the cubes of ham bone: Cook for a couple of minutes and then shift the 1 cup of ham bone cubes and a bay leaf. Add a pinch of salt.

  • Pour chicken broth and water: Now, it needs to simmer. So, pour 2 cups of chicken broth and ½ cup of mildly warm wate

  • Add seasonings: Here, add the spices and seasonings for a strong and fresh soupy flavor. Add 1⁄2 tsp of salt, 1 tsp of parsley and thyme, and 1 tsp of black pepper ground one by one. Try to add kosher salt instead of normal salt. And must add 1 tsp of fresh oregano, it increases the flavor as well as a strong aroma.
